Events
Throughout the year, the team behind the Net Zero Standard organise free-to-attend events to share how public bodies are using the Standard's suite of documents to deliver their net zero buildings.
Those events are listed below and when they have taken place, the presentations and videos from them are available to view and download from the tabs below.
In addition, where other net zero related materials have been published, such as podcasts, reports or videos which are relevant to the Standard, we will link them in the Previous events section below.
If you'd like an introduction to the Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard and its crucial first objective, 'Place', this is the online event for you: Placing the Standard, online 23rd October 12:20pm-2.45pm.
The event will be chaired by Stephen Vere, who leads the Net Zero Buildings workstream at the Scottish Futures Trust and be delivered by a team of place, built environment and carbon specialists.
Attending online will give you an opportunity to hear about the Place aspects of the Standard and to ask questions of the speakers and panellists.
The event will focus on the 'place' aspects of the Standard and circular economy considerations of rebuild versus renewal.
We will hear from case study speakers and have the opportunity to discuss delegates' experience of place, planning, circular economy and what the Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard team can do to support projects on this challenging topic.
The agenda is as follows:
◻ 12.20-1.45pm Opening remarks and welcome followed by presentations
◻ 1.45-2.00pm Comfort break
◻ 2.00-2.45pm Presentation and panel discussion
◻ 2.45pm Close
Zero Waste Scotland hosted an event for registered projects at its offices in Stirling and was chaired by Stephen Boyle of Zero Waste Scotland. The event focused on the opportunities, challenges and next steps in relation to the Construction Embodied Carbon requirements of the Standard. It brought clients, consultants and contractors together to form a community of practice in net zero public sector buildings in Scotland.
Staff at Fife College have recorded a number of podcasts with students and net zero experts on the new, net zero Dunfermline Learning Campus - one of the largest projects in Scotland to adopt the Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard.
At the end of February Scottish Government, the Scottish Futures Trust and Zero Waste Scotland invited stakeholders to an event to explore the adoption and delivery of the Scottish Government’s Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard. The event was chaired by Stephen Boyle of Zero Waste Scotland, with a keynote by Janice Pauwels of the Scottish Government.
The morning provided an introduction to the Standard and the links to Scottish Government funding and policy. The afternoon session focused on hearing from those working to deliver the Net Zero Standard. It provided an opportunity to build a greater understanding of how to approach and deliver each of the six objectives in the Standard, as well as provide an opportunity for delegates to feedback on what kind of support would be most helpful when starting on your Net Zero asset journey/
